Hygiene

The Hygiene Laboratory at the Institute of Hygiene and Microbiology provides laboratory tests relevant to hospital hygiene for the University Hospital of Würzburg, the university and external senders. This includes hospital and water hygiene examinations, examinations according to the European Pharmacopoeia as well as the microbiological control of blood and blood components. The Hygiene Department of the IHM is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS, the German Accreditation Body) according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018: Accreditation Certificate & Annex to the Certificate.

In the period between the regular assessments by the DAkkS, the laboratory is permitted to:

    a free choice of standardised or equivalent test methods
    the modification as well as further and new development of test methods
    the application of the standardised test methods listed in the Annex to the Certificate with different editions of the standards

according to the marking in the Annex to the Certificate. Here we provide the current list of all test methods in the flexible accreditation area.

Staff from the IHM's Hygiene Department are also involved in the work of the Hospital Hygiene and Antimicrobial Stewardship Unit.
